Helping When it is Most Needed

At Police children’s Fund we are always keen to hear how we have made a difference so that we can continue improving and developing the way we work. The lovely parent of one of our Hampshire beneficiaries got in touch to share her experience and say ‘thank you’.

“I am so very grateful to Police Children’s Fund for offering a huge helping hand at a time when I needed it most!

My Policing career came to an abrupt halt after 26 years’ service, following ill health retirement. It was such an uncertain time financially, emotionally, and I was entering into a new unknown chapter.

Being a single mum to a then 16year old, I was so worried that my pension (built on part time hours following the birth of my child) would not be sufficient to make ends meet. Coming to terms with my health and uncertain about my future earning potential, put me in a vulnerable, emotional position.

However, Police Children’s Fund was so understanding, easy to reach out to and supported me every step of the way. Without their financial support I would have felt very financially and emotionally vulnerable. The application was straightforward, as was the renewal.

Due to the Fund, I have been able to continue to provide for my daughter, so she hasn’t missed out. Their assistance has helped me continue to afford her loan pony (her hobby & passion), helped me pay for driving lessons to help her gain independence and helped towards ongoing every day educational expenses.

I am indebted to Police Children’s Fund and their fantastic team.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart”.
