Realising Dreams

A Dorset dad sent us a few words to share how his son, Hugo, had benefitted from the support he recently received from Police Children’s Fund.

Proud dad, Darren, told us that Hugo has just turned 18 and as a young boy, he was obsessed with aeroplanes and dreamt of being a pilot one day.

“When I was working, many a rest day was spent either at air museums or watching Top Gun (fast forwarding all the non-plane bits) and with that in mind, I used Hugo’s birthday gift from the Fund towards a trial flight lesson. I was squeezed into the rear of the plane, we were blessed with great weather and due to the arrival of a large aircraft taking priority at Bournemouth airport, he had extra flight time!”

Darren told us, “It was great to be able to give him the opportunity to realise a dream he’d had for so many years and I’m so grateful for the continued support from you.”

Hugo’s dad also expressed gratitude for the grant awarded to assist with Hugo’s driving lessons, “He passed his driving test in November and is grateful for your help.

“Previously, I had used the birthday and Christmas gifts from the Fund towards young driver lessons at Mercedes Benz World to get him some driving experience before he was old enough to drive on the road. Those lessons helped and he went on to pass his test at the first attempt.”

Here at the Fund we are delighted to have played a small part in the background of Hugo’s hopes and dreams.
