Every Step of the Way

In 2017 Police children’s Fund started supporting a Norfolk family and Rachel has taken some time to send a few words following her graduation ceremony.

“I am so grateful for all the support Police Children’s Fund has given me. During a time where there were many uncertainties, the Fund provided guidance and reassurance through a sense of community. My fondest memory is meeting my life-long friend Hattie on one of their trips. We very quickly became best friends and she made, and continues to make, such a difference to my life with her support and friendship. Without the Fund, I wouldn’t have met Hattie and therefore would not have the support of a much-needed friend with whom I share similar experiences.

The financial support from the Fund has also made a big difference to my education – particularly my higher education. The cost of university was a big concern but help from the Fund removed the barriers to me reaching my full potential”.

Rachel continues by sharing news of her amazing achievements and future plans;

“I achieved the highest grade in my cohort and won the EDU Prize for Best Undergraduate Dissertation BA Education. The Fund’s support played a significant part in these achievements.

“In July 2025, I graduated from my Master’s in Social Science Research Methods from the University of East Anglia. I was awarded a Distinction and over 80% on my final dissertation. The support from the Fund was once again a key factor in my positive university experience and academic success”.

Rachel expressed her gratitude by telling us how important our support has been and how it has shaped her future career; “Overall, I will never be able to thank Police Children’s Fund enough for all the support they have given me. Not only have they given me a life-long friend, but they have also greatly supported my achievements of which I am very proud.

“Collectively, these degrees have allowed me to secure a teaching position at a university abroad. I am forever grateful to Police Children’s Fund for being there every step of the way”.

Congratulations to Rachel from everyone at Police Children’s Fund.
