Yesterday was National Police Memorial Day and the Fund’s Chair, Tim Packham, attended the service at Waterfront Hall in Belfast. He shared a few words on the day.
“It is a privilege to be here today representing Police Children’s Fund at National Police Memorial Day. Today is an opportunity for us to remember and honour police officers who have lost their lives in the service of others, and to recognise the sacrifice made by their families, friends and colleagues.
“For Police Children’s Fund, that remembrance has a particularly personal meaning. When a police officer dies, the impact is felt most deeply by those they leave behind — especially their children and families.
“Our role is to provide support to police families at some of the most difficult times in their lives, helping ensure that children who have experienced such loss know that they have not been forgotten and that the wider policing family continues to stand beside them.
“Today, we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, we honour their service, and we reaffirm our commitment to supporting the families they left behind.
It is a privilege to represent Police Children’s Fund on this important day.”
